The Kwahu Government Hospital was established in 1954 by the SDA Missionaries, and handed over to the government twenty years later in 1974.The hospital is located at Atibie, and cited along the main Nkawkaw-Mpraeso highway. The hospital is one of two district hospitals in the Kwahu ridge area (the other being the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw). It serves an estimated population of about 230,000 people from over 200 Communities within and outside the district.

The hospital offers a wide range of services, including: curative, promotional, preventive and rehabilitative, and serves as a referral point for all formal health institutions on the Kwahu Ridge as well as the Afram Plains and other adjoining districts.
The other units of the hospital are X-ray, Laboratory, Stores, Kitchen, Theatre, Pharmacy, General Administration, Psychiatric, Dental, Eye, Laundry, Maintenance, Mortuary and an Out Patient’s Department. |
The hospital offers a 24-hour services schedule and runs a relatively busy out patient’s clinic with an average daily attendance of about 250 patients.
The bed compliment of the hospital currently stands at 175, and distributed among seven wards namely; Male, Female, children's, Gynaecology, Labour, Maternity and Accident and Emergency.
The 7-man administrative team of the hosptal has Dr. Samuel Kwame Buabeng-Frimpong as its head. Total staff strength currently stands at 270, distributed among categories as follows:

TOURISM IN KWAHU SOUTH
The traditional Chieftaincy system and the culture of the Kwahu people constitute a remarkable tourist attraction in the district. Easter celebration in Kwahu is second to none in Africa. Coupled with the ever-growing annual paragliding events, students enrolling during the period of Easter can expect nothing but the best of Easter celebrations.
Worth going to see whilst in Kwahu are tourist sites such as the Bruku Shrine between Kwahu Tafo and Kotoso, the Oworobong waterfall at Oworobong, Asuboni waterfall at Asuboni No. 3, the Bupru waterfall at Kwahu Tafo, and the numerous natural but strange rock architecture at New Oworobong, Amate, And Nketepa.
